Once again a year has passed from the celebration of Mother Earth which this year opens up beautifully already early in the morning on June 21. at 6.32 Finnish time (3.32 UTC). We here up north get to enjoy the midnight sun as the sun gives us the longest day and light of the year. Already from ancient times has humanity had groups that have recognized that day and the uniqueness of the moment and prepared for it with great devotion. The groups of dedicated ones gathered at holy places to perform their rituals and give respect to Mother Earth.

Tuesday 9 March, 2021 This text begins to unravel in the cold and snowy scenery of Kainuu (a region in Eastern Finland). It’s -28 Celsius (-18 Fahrenheit). It’s so cold that this little cottage I’m in is whining and cracking in every corner as the cold squeezes it. The crispy and radiating sunshine makes millions of crystals bounce on the crust of snow. They are responding to the messages from the sun and storing those messages in the crystals that our yellow star is transmitting. Last weekend was our seventh course weekend with future Luxia teachers. One year has now elapsed with this new group. With the previous group, we spent two years together, and wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and new ideas and skills were passed on. We all learned enormously during those years. I, as a teacher, made big insights and got a new perspective on my work. Many moments of joy and gratitude were shared, we rejoiced together the insights and turned challenges to victory. With wonder, we got to see how committed work and exercises with oneself eventually bore fruit for so many.

This summer has been very different from the previous summers that were filled with travel. It has contained work like before but in a different way than in a long time. I spent the beginning of spring in Vaasa, giving hospice care to my mother and after my return from there, I went almost directly to the island.
